Dear James,
I am writting to tell you that i read a million little peices while i was addicted to weed and drinking. I read the book in 2006 for the first of many times. I was in high school and was a loner at the time, reading how some one who was worse off then me helped. I am now clean and sober, i am turning 21 this year and i have not touched weed or alchol for about a year. When ever i am wanting to drink or get high i think of how in your book you seemed worse than i was and still made it. What made me wake up and see that i had a problem was when if i would go more than say 6 hours with out weed i would shake. So i figured if you did it then who was i to do it. I know that i was nto nearly as bad off as you but the weed was making me do things that i was not proud of, i started to deal with an boyfriend. We were almost cought one night with about 4 pounds or weed and 2 pounds of crack, the ploice officer never looked in the car thank god.
I want to thank you for giving me life. I wish that there was a better way to say thanks than this but, oh well. Its funny i have read A million Little Peices so many times that my book is getting worn out.
Once again thank you so much for helping me get my life back. I feel so much better now that i can see clearly. it would be wonderful to hear from you if you ever have the time please email me Sir.

you know, james, it’s not exactly a compliment to have the majority of your readers not know how to spell the word “read”…

I am 16, I have read all of James Freys books and I have fallen in love with them. He is beyond my favioute author. Something about the way he writes, the way he describes things, the way he makes you feel as if you were there living in the book, EVERYTHING. It has inspired me in all kinds of ways, i would love to have contact with James some how or another, he art has really touched me and I hope it has touched others as well. Becasue of James, I belive if you have dreams and you have motation to do what you really want, you are capable of anything.
