James, I am a teacher and I need to write that you have really disillusioned so many students, not to mention readers worldwide, for your blatent disrespect for veracious writing. It matters James; especially to young vulnerable students. You were really able to engage readers with your 10-year tale, but you claim that it was a memoir is what really sold this book, not to mention Oprah's priceless support and advertising! You write that you were a user, and perhaps a self abuser....but as a teacher you must know that you have abused your role as writer and let down so many readers around the world. You may write great stories, but your credibility as a writer is lost forever and your value for truth is surely undermined by your overt pursuit for fame. You are clearly too focused on becoming, if not being, a star...and they always fade. I hope that some day you have enough courage to donate ALL of the money you effectively stole from people aroung the world to improve the number of rehab clinics. Something to consider. Whether you do or not, it really just feel sorr for you....as pathetic does come to mind when I hear your name.

I have waited my whole life for a book to speak to in the way yours did. Not only did it happen once, but three times. You write in a way my mind speaks.

I doubt you'll ever bother to read this, but I hope you found happiness with your wife, daughter and dog. I hope you've forgotten the fury, i hope it doesn't speak to you anymore.
I hope you've become the man you wanted to be when you were sat in rehab all those years ago.

Hi all,

For any person to go through what James went through and walk away being the victor beating such horrific addictions, is an inspiration to the rest of the world. A million little pieces is the most gripping book I have EVER read, and at times, my heart felt like it was in a million little pieces for this youngman. The end has made me realise that all choices are made by ourselves, not our genes, not our family nor friends. It is YOUR WON DECISION! Well done James, you are a remarkable person!

A million little pieces is the most beautiful book I've ever read. (and that really means something!)
Regardless of how much of it is truly non fiction, this book moved me, and I'm sure it has moved (almost) everyone who has read it.

My friend Leonard was equally magnificent, and I will soon be starting a bright shiny morning.

it's easy to criticize, it's pretty damn hard to write such a poetic and honest novel, be it fiction or non fiction.

Greg i can't believe you could be so disrespectful as to call this a pile of crap! For many people this story has helped them find comfort and understanding. It's a beautiful story about life and love and loss which you obviously can't comprehend. Not everyone reads for pure entertainment you know!

What a pile of crap this all is. You are a fantasy screenwriter type who failed and wanted some attention!! Fiction, ok, it would be a passable read when a little bored, but to say it is true...come on man, have you ever even been in a real fight????

The best story I ever read, it's so poetical&philosophical+beautiful. I feel like translating it into my language (Indonesian language) so others can enjoy it. My first son was a drug-addict also, lucky he managed to free himself by his own will. So, I understand more by reading Frey's A Million little pieces. I was wondering, did he scribble something on an empty page before the title page also on page427? Both scribbles are similar except the first one is smaller. Please, let me know. Thanks
